This is me testing the Canon HF10 HiDef camera at one of our local Best Buys.

I did not buy the camera, I’m going to go with the Canon HV30 in a couple of months. The AVCHD files from the three HiDef cameras I just tested were a pain to work with. I have a decently fast laptop and it was still choppy to edit but the final render looks good, I guess that’s what really matters.

The HF10 is awesome for size and weight. Very portable and easy to operate, plus you will get HiDef footage of what ever you shoot.

Nice camera, just not gonna buy it.

Shotgun Mic and Lapel Mic?

I have a canon hg10 camcorder. If I have my shotgun mic attached to the accessory shoe (does not need to plug into the mic port)and a wireless lapel mic attached in the mic port will I pick up audio on both? Basically, if both are attached at the same time can I edit things so that sometimes you hear audio from the shotgun mic and other times from the lapel mic?
Yes, there is a mic port. I would assume the port that says "mic" is the right one. There is also an accessory shoe.

No. One port or the other. Not both… and the built-in mic get over-ridden, too. I *think* the external (through the mic port) turns all the others off.
