The HV10 packs a variety of HD features in to a compact and easy to use camera that is potent enough even for the discerning videophile. Costing just under $1000 USD including the battery pack, charger, cables, and accessories makes the HV10 camcorder a bargain considering its nearest competitors price point. Its light weight at just over one pound allows for comfortable use even when expending full battery life. The battery has over 80 minutes worth of recording time, but charges quickly so you can get back in the action without loosing a shot.

All videos are filmed in 1080i HD with 2.76 megapixels showing detail even in low light situations. The HV10 also takes great sill shots with its built in flash source that has red eye reduction standard. We also enjoyed the flip out 2.7 inch widescreen viewer that makes filming effortless since you no longer have to close one eye like on older model camcorders. The optical zoom ratio of 10x plus 200x digital brings the action up close regardless how far the target is from the lens. Utilizing a digital video cassette allows you to record and playback on a variety of sources including compatible TV’s and computers.

Recently we used the Canon HV10 on a trip to California and it proved to be reliable and fully portable mini television studio surpassing expectations. The only thing we could find with the camera that disappointed us is that no carrying case was included. We recommend the HV10 from Canon to anyone looking for a reasonably priced full feature high definition camcorder.
